A heavy snowfall accompanied by rain has thrown the normal life out of gear in the upper-hilly and mountain settlements of the far-west districts for past two days.
The settlements are blanketed by a thick layer of snow and the local residents are struggling to keep themselves warm in the subzero temperatures, while travellers have been stranded midway as the roads were blocked.
Bagalek, Gariagaun, Kathmandau, Gadesera, Durgamandau and Ghaneshwar VDCs of Doti; Kanda and Bungal VDCs of Bajhang, and upper Bajura have witnessed a snowfall.
The traffic movement has been obstructed to and fro the upper Bajura from the district headquarters. Darchula's Tinkar region and Khaptad region of Baitadi also saw a heavy snowfall.
The officiating Regional Administrator of Far-Western Development Region, Chandra Prasad Gaire, informed that certain sections of the Bhimdatta Panta Highway, Dasharath Highway and Jaya Prithvi Bahadur Singha Highway are blocked due to snowfall.
