Former Prime Minister and UCPN (Maoist) leader Dr Baburam Bhattarai on Friday distributed a total of 550 blankets to the Chepang folks and hearing impaired students in Gorkha district.
He distributed the blankets bought from the remuneration for newspaper articles to the Chepang of five VDCs in the district by organizing a programme at Butar of Makaisingh VDC in the district.
He provided a blanket to every family of Chepang from Makaisingh, Taklung, Ghyalchowk, Bhumlichowk and Tanglichowk.
"A blanket is not sufficient. Needs are high but this is just a symbol of token of love from my side," Dr Bhattarai said after offering the blankets to the locals.
Dr Bhattarai, who was elected from Gorkha constituency no-1, visits his constituency at least once a month. "I bought 200 blankets from the earnings of my newspaper articles writing while I bought others from my own money," he added.
The former PM is scheduled to distribute 50 blankets to the hearing impaired students in the district. RSS
