Police has arrested the person who attacked two girls, Sangita Magar and Shima Basnet, with acid in Basantapur, Kathmandu on February 22. Police is set to make the alleged perpetrator Jiwan BK public amidst a press conference at Metropolitian Police Commissioner’s Office, Ranipokhari at 11 am today.
According to Metropolitian Police Department spokesperson Narayan Singh Khadka, BK was arrested by Hanumandhoka Police and handed over to Kathmandu Police.
SSP Puskhar Karki of Metropolitian Police Crime Investigation Department at Hanuman Dhoka said that BK was arrested in Sikkim, India two days back. According to him, BK and Sangita’s family have rented rooms in the same house.
Police had taken forward the investigation into the case by preparing the sketch of the attacker. The sketch, prepared on the basis of information obtained through inquiry of the vicitms and locals around the tuition centre, showed a youth with mongoloid features and his head covered in a hoodie. Police had intensified monitoring some suspects based on the color of clothes worn by the supsect and the way he walked and ran.
