Under the connection and involvement of the government, United Consultancy has cheated some 40 Nepali youths under the pretext of sending them to South Korea. The consultancy lured the unemployed boys by assuring them to provide them better job in the Korea and collected some 32 million Nepali currency.
Upon the work permit provided by Labor Department, the each youth became confident and paid 8 hundred thousand each to the consultancy. However, the dream of the youths to embark towards their destination was shattered when the authority at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) informed the youths being cheated.
Organizing a press meet on Friday at the Reporters’ Club in the capital, the youths’ dream was shattered when the authority informed them the cancellation of their tickets including all documents were found fake.
One of the victims of the scam, Nima Tamang of Sindhupalchok, shared that he was convinced to pay the money to the consultancy only after he got confirmation of his work permit from the Labor Department through the SMS he made to 4001 to Nepal Telecom. Thus, Tamang has demanded with the government to repay his including the other youths money back citing the weakness of the government in the scam.
